Ciclismo – Presentazione 49° Giro della Lunigiana –

Lerici, 3 September 2025 – Everything is set for the 49th Giro della Lunigiana, which will start tomorrow in Genoa – for the first time in the race’s history – and finish on Sunday, September 7, in Terre di Luni.

A total of 167 participants are ready to battle over 396 kilometers, featuring 12 KOMs and two summit finishes across five demanding stages.

As tradition dictates, the race promises both uncertainty and spectacle, following in the footsteps of recent stars such as Jarno Widar, Jorgen Nordhagen, Paul Seixas, and Lorenzo Finn, who shone in Lunigiana before making their mark in the U23 and professional ranks.

Among the top favorites are Poland’s Jan Jackowiak, last year’s Best Young Rider and winner of the Course de la Paix, and Italy’s Roberto Capello, who has already claimed five victories this season. France, dominant in the last four editions with three overall wins and a runner-up spot, will rely on national champion Théophile Vassal and pure climber Johan Blanc. Other big names include Belgians Seff Van Kerckhove and Edouard Claisse, Norway’s Hakon Eiksund Øksnes, Austria’s Anatol Friedl, and Czech rider Matej Pitak.

For the Italian squad, in addition to Capello, the best GC hopes rest on Giacomo Rosato (second best young rider in 2024), Fabio Segatta, Brandon Fedrizzi, and Davide Frigo.

Stage hunters and sprinters will also play their cards, with world track champion Alessio Magagnotti, Belgium’s Thor Michielsen are tipped for the flatter stages. Italian fans will also be watching Riccardo Del Cucina, Francesco Baruzzi, and national champion Vincenzo Carosi.
